Custom home vs. buying existing

When you are considering buying a home be sure to consider all your options.
Should you build a custom home or buy an existing home?  There has been and will always be pros and cons to all your options.

A custom home starts with finding the perfect land that you want to live on. If you are not 100% in love with the land you may want to consider buying an existing home in the location that makes you happy.

Next a custom home needs a set of building plans. This really is the reason to build custom. Building a custom home vs. buying an existing home gives you 100% design flexibility. An existing home is complete and you are buying what you see.

Once you have plans then you need a builder.  Belmark would be happy to meet you direct for a consultation. During the building process if an idea comes up most of the times you are able to make those changes possible.  Having flexibility of the layout and details is a benefit to building a custom home vs. buyer an existing home.

The build out for a custom home can take 6-10 months from the time you have a set of approved building plans. You will want to have patience during the process but the end result will be worth the wait. If timing is an issue for you then you may want to consider looking for an existing finished home for purchase.

Location and timing are 2 of the biggest deciding factors why potential home buyers choose to an existing finished home.  For example, if a certain school district is important to your family chances are you will want to research existing finished homes in that area.  Real Estate companies all have available home listings on their websites.  If you need assistance with an agent we are always happy to refer Brett Bunn with Windermere.

The timing and schedule involved in custom home building may not blend with your own personal schedules sometimes.  For example, what if you are moving from out of state? You will likely need a place to live right away so waiting 6-10 months for a custom home may feel like its not the best option for your needs. Temporary housing isn't an horrible option when you building your custom home is the end reward.

Belmark has always believed in the importance of buyer participation during the construction of the home.  We believe that by sharing the understanding of how things are built it creates a comfort to our home buyers. The home buyers are able to see in person the quality of construction along the entire process.  If something is a concern from our home buyers Belmark took action to address the concerns immediately.  At Belmark we believe in an open door policy.  We perform several site visits during the home build with our clients.
